Appreciate the good things { BIG & Small }

So today was a hard day for me, the weather is really taking a toll on my soul. I know spring is surely on the way but when the days are dark and dreary it's really hard to see the good things in life. So when I woke up this morning I put on the coffee as usual and when I went to open the curtains in my sun room I was pleasantly greeted with this beautiful hibiscus bloom. I don't know why but this actually put a smile on my face.This made me realize even amidst the grueling days of January you still have to try and find the good things and appreciate them however small the are. Sometimes in life we get so focused on the negatives that we don't even see all the good things right before our eyes. So until spring I will have to keep busy with lots of art projects and wishful thoughts of being on the ocean where my heart and soul is most HAPPY!

Tropical Tuesdays and Winters Natural Beauty

Ok ... so this winter is starting to make me a little stir crazy, I am trying my best to put on a happy face but let's face it it is down right miserable. Mother nature has come down on us with a vengence. So what do you do when the weather keeps you shut in??? What I have found that has been helping me this winter is to try and always have something to look forward to, whether it's making a art project surfing the web in search of tropical places or spending time with friends making dinner and enjoying each others company. My friend Heather and I have been hanging out on tuesday nights which by the way we have now dubbed "Tropical Tuesdays" and what we have decided to do is make a dinner inspired by the islands, put on some island tunes, sit in the hot tub and imagine ourselves in Key West in tank tops and flip flops of course, sipping on cocktails! We most recently even made tropical inspired wine charms, too fun! So for now try to find inspiration and motivation to get you through this harsh time. Spring is surely on the way RIGHT??? So for now I will keep surfing the web and browsing Coastal Living magazine while sipping wine and dreaming of warmer beachier days! can't wait to see my first daffodil rear it's sleepy little head! Cheers to Summer ~

A Spa Inspired Evening

Our Spa evening started with an Indian inspired meal which consisted of chicken seasoned with chilli powder and cininamom topped with a mango chutney for my husband of course and for me tilapia and curry cous cous . We then set up the spa room which was lit with lots of candles and the sound of the ocean in the background provided by homemedics, this is a wonderful little gadget by the way. We warmed our massage stones and had the most fabulous hot stone massage. What a wonderful evening with my husband. So take some time to prepare a meal light some candles , pour some wine and let yourself melt away to a exotic location and enjoy each others company. In the rat race of life we often forget to relax and detach from all the daily stresses of our lives. A great meal and message was just the therapy I needed to let myself forget it is the middle of January in the mid west. So thank you husband for a fabulous evening.

Ahhh... this is where I long to be. Imagine yourself there.... Just a little inspiring thought to get you through this bone chilling day. Follow these steps to a warmer happier state of mind. 1}Light a sweet smelling candle.2} pour yourself a glass of vino. 3}put on some jazz and let the music melt you away to a tropical location. 4} Enjoy your tropical evening!

Happy New Year !

Wishing everyone a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year! We decided to do a low key New Years just the two of us. We had a fabulous dinner at Main Street Grill, I had the most amazing Chilean Sea Bass and Mike splurged on a huge porterhouse steak. I had a pomegranate martini and some tropical foo foo drink that made me dream of the ocean where I can't wait to be! I hope everyone had a great new year and wish everyone a new year filled with great things to come. All we can do is move forward into the new year without dwelling too much on the negative things in the past. As long as we all grow and learn from our mistakes then there should be no regrets in life! And as I always say "never say never" Because... you never know where your life may end up one day or what life might present itself to you with. I am looking forward to the New Year along with all the ideas and adventures I see in my future to come, hopefully one of these days it involves moving to South Carolina!!!
Best wishes and cheers to all my friends and family
Sherry~
